Jean Abel PIERRE, Ph.D / Founder and CEO
Dr. Pierre is an accomplished academic and professional with extensive expertise in sociology, language education, and program administration. He earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from the prestigious University Paris-Sorbonne in France and holds a Master’s degree in Teaching Foreign Languages from the Université des Antilles et de la Guyane in Martinique.
With over a decade of experience as a Language and Cultural Instructor at the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) of the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., Dr. Pierre has made significant contributions to training diplomats and professionals in intercultural communication and language mastery. In addition to his instructional role, he served as a Certified Tester utilizing the highly regarded Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) rating scale, a standard widely recognized across U.S. government agencies and the educational sector. His exceptional mentorship skills were honored in 2014 when he received the Dean’s Coin distinction for excellence in guiding and mentoring new teaching staff at FSI.
Beyond his tenure at FSI, Dr. Pierre demonstrated his commitment to educational equity and development as the Executive Administrator for Stone of Help Haiti, a nonprofit organization dedicated to implementing and improving educational programs across Haiti. Through this role, he played a pivotal part in enhancing educational opportunities for underserved communities, underscoring his dedication to creating meaningful and lasting impacts.
In 2023, Dr. Pierre co-founded LPS, bringing his extensive experience, leadership, and vision to the organization. His diverse expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence make him an invaluable asset to our team, and we are honored to work alongside such a stellar quality manager and thought leader.
Melissa L. PIERRE / Founder and Project Manager
Melissa is one of the co-founders of LPS and currently holds the critical role of Project Manager. With a career spanning multiple disciplines, Melissa brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and a deep commitment to excellence to her team. For the past five years, she has worked as an ICU Registered Nurse in a variety of hospital settings, where she has demonstrated remarkable adaptability and dedication. Before transitioning into the field of nursing, Melissa dedicated her time to meaningful work as an interpreter in Haiti’s mission field.
Her unique ability to communicate fluently in four languages has allowed her to foster seamless communication between her teams from diverse cultural backgrounds. Furthermore, her educational foundation in business provides her with a strategic perspective, enabling her to navigate complex projects with precision and a results-oriented approach. Melissa’s multifaceted background positions her as a dynamic leader who consistently delivers innovative solutions. Her passion for excellence, combined with her organizational expertise, ensures that she contributes significantly to the success and growth of LPS.
Eliana Văgălău, Ph.D / Project Manager
Dr. Văgălău is an Associate Professor at Loyola University with over 20 years of experience teaching Francophone and Italophone literatures. Her expertise in language education and curriculum development is evidenced by her leadership roles as Undergraduate Program Director and Course Coordinator at the same university. Through these positions, she has demonstrated a deep understanding of designing and managing successful language programs, fostering academic excellence, and inspiring students to achieve their full potential.
In addition to her remarkable teaching and administrative experience, Dr. Văgălău brings a rich expertise in translation, cultural analysis, and interdisciplinary project management to the LPS leadership team. Fluent in five languages, including Romanian (her native language), English, French, and Italian (near-native proficiency), she embodies a rich tapestry of cross-cultural knowledge and linguistic versatility. With a profound dedication to language education, and academic innovation, Dr. Văgălău is a vital member of the LPS team, inspiring both her colleagues and the wider community.
